On Friday January 29th THE EC TWINS will launch LA's newest venue HAUTE with their birthday celebration! A new club launch and THE E.C TWINS birthday!? This will be insanity! Please come down, but please arrive very early! The party kicks off at 10pm, 665 N ROBERTSON BLVD.

THE EC TWINS will be extending their birthdays over the entire week, with a guest performance from MARK FARINA on WEDNESDAY at  ECCO and a joint celebration with their production partner TIM B from SWITZERLAND @ THE SUNSET STANDARD on SATURDAY 30th, they will also be swinging by their favorite little lounge HYDE on Thursday 28th to rough things up with a DJ set there!

These events will be slammed! We can't wait for an incredible week! 

                                                                                      

 

As many of you noticed, the site went off line for a while. Not sure what the fuck happened, but we're back on now! Sorry to those who couldn't see our tour dates, we surely missed you! They were all incredible! We're back up now, and will add some interavctive updates soon. If we can find the time we'll be working on podcasts, galleries and more. We're playing with TOM NOVY and JOSH GABRIEL from GABRIEL & DRESDEN this week and a long weekend of partying next week for our BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION starting with our dear friend MARK FARINA on Wednesday 27th @ ECCO, this date coincides with our MELODIC nights 1st anniversary! We have an entire weekend planned for this one, including a joint celebration birthday with one of our major production partners TIM B @ ELECTRONIQUE BOUTIQUE, a night at the newest and hottest clubs in LA on the Friday and a Thursday night at one of our favorite venues on the planet! EXCITING NEWS!

A couple of years ago we found ourselves in the STATES struggling to find any real house music scene that cold sustain our living expenses beyond begging on the streets.

Well, we all know how things have changed and we've put a whole load of energy into helping that transition along! But funnily enough, during the tough times, we did hit the studio with an ultra talented producer named REMY, to work on an electro track that took quite a few all nighters to say the very least!

It was fun and time consuming, but in the end we came away with a wicked track that we all loved!

Between now and then our schedules as DJ's, promoters and remixers in the U.S picked up and we left the track in the CD collection, exclusively for our performances.

2 years later, a label owner and good friend heard the track and loved it! When he found out we were responsible he signed it immediately!

At the moment we're really excited about our production work, still it's a great feeling to know that a track we did purely for the love and against tough odds could still come out on top!

It's a banger too!

AN OVERVIEW OF THE WEEK!

It's not even worth mentioning any more how busy we are! If we're not playing music behind the decks, we'll be either in the studio making music, listening to music, or promoting an event! Last week we held down fort with a bunch of local guys at MELODIC!

We bring in the big guns at MELODIC and spend more money than we make doing so! How would a night with local lads on the decks do? The answer! Slamming! Ten out of ten and big props go out to our brothers (in order of their set times) TIM B, NIC ALVARADO, STEVEN DIMITRI, ZACK HILL and ADAM AUBURN! It was so interesting watching everyone go up there, with nothing on the line except mutual love and perhaps a bit of local pride! We have to admit that it was at least as exciting watching these guys in the mix as it is watching any of the big names we welcome to Ecco on a Wednesday night! We also took to the ones and twos for a quick 40 minutes and tried to represent all their different styles in our short time slot! Respect to the DJ'S big love to the MELODIC crowd! You are all the real deal!

Thursday was SLASH from Guns N Roses Birthday! We're used to taking a back seat for an event like this! Everyone get's excited about the celebrities and our presence is merely supplementary! Last week however, once the hysteria of seeing SLASH had calmed down, everyone drifted on to the floor and the last hour was nuts! Thursday night in LA! Rock kids! House Music! A success? You'd better belive it!

Friday we made the trip up to San Francisco for our monthly residency at TRIGGER! TRIGGER is one of the hottest spots in the castro and the crowd are ready to party! A couple of new venues had opened across the street, which had the owners understandably concerned! It didn't really make a difference! The place was packed and the crowd got busy on the bar until the wee small hours! A big night for the gay scene and we loved it!

Saturday @ The Electronique Boutique! We broke a 10 year record of attendance at THE STANDARD! That's major! On a funny (though we certainly didn't laugh until the following day) note, we had no club manager (he's awesome and was in Paris) and not even an assistant manager! In place we had a 'risks manager'! He stopped the line at 250 people, because that was the 'legal capacity'. We freaked out! The place was only half busy in our opinion and the line to get in wasn't getting any shorter! After a few, somewhat heated, discussions we managed to convince them to allow the rest of the crowd in! Packed to the rafters and incredible energy! We love this booking!P.s, we were re-joined by Zack Hill and Steven Dimitri on the haloed ones and twos, who laid it down whilst we dealt with everything else! Thanks Boys!

Sunday at XIV has just gotten crazy! It's actually more stressful than enjoyable to see a cluster fuck on Sunset Blvd that you can't control! By Sunday afternoon we're totally cooked, but we man up and rock the mix each week! Celebrities swan in and that creates more hysteria on the street! We don't like the door policies under such circumstances in Hollywood, so we just put our headphones on and try to find a happy place! Sunday was packed beyond belief and we were in the corner, so stuck that one of us cracked his ribs on the booth and had to wince through the rest of the night in agony! Still (as per usual) the place went fucking nuts, so it's all good in the Wood!

ANOTHER CRAAAAAAAZY WEEK!

Things in LA are getting out of control! Not even a year ago every 'expert' in town said House music was over! It almost makes us piss when we think about it!

SUNDAY @ THE TERRACE XIV (OH AND ERM..., THE ABBEY)

What The F is going on!? Sunday afternoon and SUNSET BLVD is blocked with cars trying to park at XIV for a house music event! We tried to warn you, but you wouldn't listen (you know who you are). The TERRACE at XIV on Sunday is ridiculous! We'd prefer a more positive adjective, but it's waaaay crazy! We love it so much! Masses of people and total hysteria! A real deal monumental scene! Celebrity, Royalty and Insanity all packed in to a Restaurant terrace on Sunset BLVD! We perform for 5 hours between 5pm and 10pm, then (in theory) the parties over! Two chances of this party ending at 10pm, slim and fat, so we packed up the headphones and records to skip through the crowds for a sneaky after hours performance at the private room in THE ABBEY! Any less insane!? Doubtful! More rammed hysteria! We ate our dinner behind the decks that day (belch). 10 hours on and the crowd was still up for more! Legit rock stars, the lot of you! Are you trying to kill us!?

SATURDAY @ ELECTRONIQUE BOUTIQUE (THE PURPLE LOUNGE)

We fancied roughing the place up a little bit this week, so in went a smoke machine, strobe light and lazer! This place gets wild, always reaches capacity and ends with exposed flesh in every direction! You have to love it! ELECTRONIQUE BOUTIQUE is a phenomenal night to be a part of! A real party in LA (and by that we mean to say that people reeeeaaally party)! Underground and fierce from jump! We can throw down any way we like and the chic Euros, cool kids and house heads have it large around the DJ booth with us! No Door drama to stress about and the crowd is inherently trendy! Okay, so one of the promoters collapsed this week (we guess from exhaustion) and had to go to hospital, but no pioneering movement can hold it's head up high without some level of bad behaviour! Anyway, he lived to tell the tale, so we'll make more history together this Saturday!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! More of the same please! ELECTRONIQUE BOUTIQUE is becoming an absolute monster!

THURSDAY @ ROCK AND ROLL A GO-GO (CINESPACE)

The crew at Cinespace on a Thursday are a wicked bunch! We grew up with a punk rocker cousin looking after us as kids, whilst our father worked the night shifts, so we feel comfortable with the '2 feet high' mohawked posse! They're the real deal! Through the back, the band from"velvet revolver" throw down, which opens the front room up to all kinds of electro-clash creativity! It helps us shake up our naughty side! These slamming events are a big hit with the rock scene, and they're tossing in Slash from Guns 'n' Roses this week with us! Guess what!? Pandemonium is in store!

WEDNESDAY @ MELODIC WITH DOC MARTIN (ECCO)

DOC MARTIN is synonymous in LA with the House Music scene. He was one of the major players to bring the genre here during it's infancy! Our boys at Homemade hooked up DOC'S booking and we jumped on it! Amazing is all we can say! Packed from pillar to post until 2am on a Wednesday night with a wicked crowd! We love Melodic Wednesdays! Docs set was wicked, but it got super jacking at 1:35am when he dropped in the disco beats! Teena Marie's "LOVER BOY" anyone? Mmmmmm Tommy Likey! Thanks DOC and all the sublevel crew! We Love You!

Last week, for those of you who made it out to any of our performances, was insane!

To keep it simple we will break down the gigs one by one!

Wednesday (EC TWINS & ATFC @ ECCO)

Wednesday nights are our "art" events! MELODIC is the gig that we use (in case anyone had any doubts) to demonstrate the depth of our understanding when it comes to no holds barred, pushing the envelope, underground house music! We love the genre from it's disco routes through to it's modern day electronic sounds and on Wednesdays we can really self indulge! The crowd at ECCO on a Wednesday aren't beginners and they couldn't give a toss about the Hollywood scene either! They take their music seriously and it's not amateur night for the DJ'S fortunate enough to make an appearance! You have to bring your "A GAME" when it comes to mixing and track selection! Half of the people on the dance floor have extensive knowledge on the genre, so if you want to earn their respect, you have to be on top form artistically and technically!

On a personal level, several years ago when EYE CANDY was a club in Scotland, we booked ATFC to play for us...., he missed his flight and the booking that night! Our set, along with an excellent opener by Adam Auburn was great fun, but before ATFC went on we made sure to bust his chops a little (or really rather a lot in fact)! We waited years to do it, so watching the poor bastard squirm whilst we poked fun was mildly amusing! Finally we decided he'd taken enough stick, so we let him play some music! The night was fantastic, the crowd kept arriving up until 1am and never left the dance floor!

That's the great thing about Wednesdays, the crowd loves the dance floor and we love the crowd!

Thursday (EC TWINS & KAT VON D @ CINESPACE)

We've never played at CINESPACE before! Los Angeles (and especially the Hollywood scene) is so new to Electronic music, that it's always slightly nerve racking to perform in front of a new crowd. There's always that chance that you'll be faced with a bunch of top 40 loving punters with a whole lot of bad advice about what music would work perfectly! Typical suggestions are the usual gash that is made for 4 year olds. When you listen to music as much as we do, it's always hilarious to be given advice from some dude who only hears music on the radio for fifteen minutes on his drive to work. It makes us piss ourselves laughing sometimes! Especially since the dance floor is always jacking to electronic music when we perform!

If they looked through our record box or our DJ bag (yes, we're still resisting dropping our skills and the diversity of them in place of a laptop computer) they'd soon see that they're barking up the wrong tree! The great thing is that modern day culture (even in Hollywood) is so open minded that we always manage to hook that crowd and rock them with our trademark sound! Thanks for backing us up!

Of course at celebrity events most peoples attention is focussed on the stars, and that's fair play! That said more than enough people peeled themselves away from the glare of the paparazzi to fill the floor and tear the roof off with us for a great fun, diverse set!

Saturday (EC TWINS @ ELECTRONIQUE BOUTIQUE @ THE SUNSET STANDARD PURPLE LOUNGE)

THE PURPLE LOUNGE @ THE SUNSET STANDARD has always been one of our favorite haunts! The staff are hip, the venue is beautiful and since those two things are so essential, even though the venue has been around for a while, it's devoid of all the attitude that comes with running a brand new club! In place of that attitude and because the fundamentals of the club are so bang on, what we're left with is a genuinely cool crowd of hipsters, chic Europeans, and open minded cool kids, ready to play, a very fair door policy and an extremely mixed and loving crowd that pack the room to capacity each week!

The fashion was banging and even though we turned the area in front of our DJ BOOTH in to a mosh pit, it was the prettiest looking mosh pit we've ever been witness to!

There was plenty exposed flesh, shirtless guys, girls in not much more than underwear all backed up by the suited and booted or elegantly dressed fashionistas at the bar! We love that polarization! Big Love to HOME MADE EVENTS, CAMEO and also DJ Adam Auburn for making the launch of our residency at the Standard such a success! This really is a family affair!

Sunday (THE EC TWINS @ Sam Nazarians pool party)

Sam Nazarian, in case you don't know, is the owner of SBE. SBE, in case you don't know, own many of the best clubs in LA. HYDE, AREA, FOXTAIL, S BAR, KATSUYA, SLS HOTEL and XIV are all SBE venues.

SBE helped us to introduce Electronic music as a major force in the US, by handing us the keys to HYDE on a Friday night around 10 months ago! Since then, Electronic music has grown to be a huge movement in Los Angeles and we've been held accountable by many for it's growth. SBE helped with all that and we love the entire team, so when it came to playing for the owner at his place (some dumpy little one bedroom squat in the hills..., not) it was our pleasure.

The party was as you'd expect! Great venue, great food, great friends, great weather and electronic music on the sound system! We don't want to massage our own ego's, but wouldn't that have been unheard of at such a get together less that a year ago!? Thanks for another opportunity SBE, happy birthday Sam Nazarian.

Sunday (THE EC TWINS @ THE XIV TERRACE)

We'd say it's pretty much official, if there is one party that all of LA is talking about, then it's XIV on a Sunday afternoon! The rich, famous and ultra cool turn up in droves after their pool parties and beach day dressed tip to toe in Sunday best to hang from the TERRACE at XIV and turn the Sunset Strip in to their own personal VIP room!

This week was insanity! True, the sound system blew a fuse and we had absolute silence at the peak of the night which was heartbreaking, but everyone stayed, no one left, even more arrived and when we dropped our first track the place erupted again!

This party is becoming iconic! Everyone is talking about it! It's so unique that the success has even taken us by surprise!

Thanks to Saturday night at THE STANDARD and Sunday at XIV we think that our movement and our friends spell the dawning of a new golden era for the world famous SUNSET STRIP!

There's really nothing quite like being a part of history in the making!
